Periods of heavy rainfall are likely on Friday and Friday night which could cause some flooding problems and rises on rivers. …FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING… THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN Wichita HAS EXPANDED THE * Flood Watch TO INCLUDE a portion of Southeast Kansas, including the following areas, Allen, Greenwood, and Woodson. * From late tonight through early Saturday morning. * Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over Oklahoma on Thursday night, and spread northward into southern Kansas by late Thursday night. Periods of heavy rainfall are most likely to occur during the day on Friday, and continue into Friday night across south central and southeast Kansas. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible. * The long duration of rainfall which may be heavy at times could cause flooding problems of low lying and poor drainage areas. The heavy rainfall will also cause rises on small streams, creeks, and rivers with flooding possible. A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in flood prone areas should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
