NEW YORK, Jan. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) New York Office released the digital mini-series “Go: Tohoku” to promote Tohoku region to the U.S. market, the “hidden gem” located in the northern part of Japan. The videos filmed documentary-style showcase four American influencers exploring the breath-taking natural landscapes, learning about rich local history, and their fascination of the unique culinary tradition.

Go Tohoku: Anthem

During the trip packed with excitement and surprise, the American influencers went on hikes through stunning waterfalls of Oirase Stream in Aomori and floated down the Geibikei Gorge with local poems read by a rower echoing through the valley that stretches over a mile. They also experienced Wanko-Soba, buckwheat noodle served in tiny portions continuously for as long as you want or as much as one can eat. Go: Tohoku also features the explorers’ visits to Chusonji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Appi Kogen Ski resort in Iwate. These American influencers’ first impressions were something to behold and a testimony to the beauty and allure of the Tohoku region.

“Last year, we have witnessed a further increase in the recognition and popularity of Japan with Tokyo receiving readers’ choice awards from major U.S. travel magazines, including Condé Nast Traveler and AFAR. We hope through this documentary series American travelers will discover new off-the-beaten path destinations to explore,” said Ken Iwata, Executive Director of JNTO New York Office.

Tohoku experienced through the collective of American influencers will pique the curiosity of travelers to explore beyond major cities in Japan. JNTO will continue its effort to promote Tohoku and other local regions by showcasing multifaceted attractions of Japan that can enrich travelers’ experiences.
